I am a figurative painter. My subject has always been the human form, whether trying to get a realistic interpretation or abstracting the form to create a totally new form. I am interested in the line, how a beautifully drawn line can say so many things, create emotion, conjure up images. The added color is play, further creating emotion and the mood of the painting. Although I stray and try different mediums, try to be creative using different textures and materials, I always end up back with my charcoal and pencils and paint. I always end up back to the same subject matter, the figure, which fascinates me, no matter the age or body type.
I am currently attending graduate school to obtaina Masters degree in Art Therapy and Counseling. I am fascinated how powerful art can be and how it can be used to heal.
I live in a full house - husband, four kids, three cats and one dog.  This provides for a lot of inspiration, lots of activity which leads to a lot of accidents, which leads to much quick, creative thinking. And a house full of critics. I wouldn't have it any other way.
A few favorites:
Artists - Egon Schiele, Toulouse Lautrec, KATERIC
Music -  Incubus to Metallica, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn,  Koko Taylor :)

Books -  Art Therapy Books!
